Diana Princess of Wales Memorial Fund
In autumn 2010, as part of its preparations for closure, the Fund commissioned DP Evaluation to conduct a major research project into how funders can help bring about positive social change. We produced A Funder Conundrum which contains the report and tools and other resources for funders.
The Fund asked DP Evaluation to explore a range of the approaches that the Fund had used to secure social change and to investigate its work in relation to the following three questions:
How can funders bring about positive social change?
Does Funder Plus add value or is it more trouble than it’s worth?
Does working in collaboration with each other make funders more effective?
DP Evaluation’s findings were published in their research report, A Funder Conundrum, in September 2012. In addition, DP Evaluation’s research team developed a number of tools and resources for funders (see below).
Primarily, the Fund hoped that this project would generate useful learning for others working to bring about positive social change. The report, tools and guidance were therefore handed over to the Association of Charitable Foundations in December 2012 so that they would continue to be used long after the Fund closed.
